Assassin's Creed Reveals Bizarre Attack on Titan Event for Thanksgiving
In a bizarre crossover event that breaks conventional expectations, Ubisoft has unveiled an digital collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, providing no-cost extra story content for Shadows players.
Strange Mission Revealed
According to the authorized announcement, "A strange confrontation leads protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a new mission, where whispers of prohibited rituals and monstrous changes reverberate through the darkness." The narrative introduces a "oddly garbed woman named Ada" who charges the duo with journeying into the Crystal Cave—a important location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her ally from a secret sect.
The adventure focuses on "strange trials and a terrifying enemy" and is open to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Iconic Locations and Changes
The preview features the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was previously where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through eras. The trailer concludes with a powerful moment showing a character, probably the captive, transforming into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Prizes and Extra Content
Players who successfully complete the adventure will receive an special katana together with several items secreted throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also features purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-inspired attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Unique implements
- Survey Corps steed
Third Free Story Update
This update also introduces the game's third complimentary story episode, titled "A Puzzlement." This humorous mission teams Naoe and Yasuke as they trade signature techniques: Naoe introduces a performative variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-lethal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Mystery" also contains a new environmental puzzle that may finally shed light on some unanswered questions from the main storyline.
Earlier Anime Collaborations
This marks not the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with famous anime franchises. The series formerly included a 2020 cross-promotional story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla informally featured a quest that obviously referenced the well-known series One-Punch Man.
