Christantus Uche Ignites Dominant Palace Victory at Shelbourne.
Despite entering their first-ever continental campaign, Crystal Palace are learning very quickly. Without key figures like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and defender Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles departed Dublin with a comfortable result that all but guarantees them a spot in the Conference League playoffs.
A further victory in their upcoming match against Finland's KuPS should be sufficient to seal direct passage to the knockout stages, especially following a previous setback against Strasbourg.
Squad Members Seize the Opportunity
This match offered a platform for some of Palace's fringe talent to impress. Christantus Uche, in only his second start after joining on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a well-taken goal. Striker Eddie Nketiah added a another, finding the net for the second consecutive succession.
A Shelbourne side that had concluded their league season proved outmatched even for a largely rotated Palace lineup. The visitors were already weakened by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are out with leg injuries.

Youngster Adam Wharton came close minutes later, fizzing a long-range effort over the bar. Nketiah then appealed for a penalty after bursting into the box, but the referee waved away the appeals.

The home side were clinging on for dear life. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to escape a booking for two robust tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the crossbar with a powerful header from a corner.
Pino Seals the Game
The match was as good as over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino weaved past a series of comically weak challenges before coolly slotting a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.
After the break, manager Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to rest key individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring his very first touch, only to see his shot blocked.
The youngster was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one attempt strike off both posts before being gathered on the line. Uche then missed a sitter of a chance, indicating there is still room for improvement in his game.
A solitary worry for Palace was a late injury to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This paved the way for 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to make his first-team debut, capping an otherwise positive night for the visiting side.
